About

My Background

My journey to this point has been a diverse one, a journey that has equipped me with a broad perspective and adaptability. I reside in Rochester with my wife, two children, and two dogs. Before my career in law enforcement, I worked as a site foreman for a crane and material handling company in Georgetown, Massachusetts. Starting as a laborer in 1995, I climbed the ranks through hard work, a strong work ethic, and dedication, eventually becoming a foreman. In my youth, I managed, marketed, and assisted in opening franchises for a food delivery business from 1989 to 1991. I also managed several multi-million-dollar computer software and tech stores from 2004-2008. These experiences have equipped me with valuable management skills and the ability to bring out the best in any team.

In 2008, I was hired as a patrolman by the Somersworth NH Police Department, and a lifelong dream was realized. I was at Somersworth Police Department until 2014 and learned much from the other officers and administrators. Their dedication to the city and tireless effort was inspiring. While there, I received the Medal of Merit in 2009 and a commendation from the governor for my assistance in bringing a murder suspect to justice. In 2014, I left Somersworth PD and took a position as a Senior Patrolman with the Lee NH Police Department. Lee is also an outstanding department with a fantastic staff, from the chief to the officers and administrators. Indeed, it is a beautiful town. In 2016, I left the Lee Police Department for a full-time position with the Strafford County Sheriff’s Office. In my time at the Strafford County Sheriff’s Office, I have worked in every area and department the office has to offer. On the federal side, I spent time assigned to the U.S. Marshal’s Office, Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force Program, and ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement). On the local side, I was assigned to the Standards and Training Unit, Civil Process, Prisoner Transports, and as an Investigator. I am a certified PT Instructor and a Field Training Officer. In 2022, I received the Charles Smith Award, an annual award given out in recognition of “outstanding public service above and beyond the call of duty.”

The People’s Sheriff

During the tenure of the last elected sheriff, I served as an investigator and worked with the Attorney General’s Office to ensure accountability for any wrongdoings. During this time, I decided to run for Strafford County Sheriff. The public is ready to embrace a candidate who prioritizes honesty, hard work, and service over a political agenda. As your sheriff, I pledge to uphold the highest ethics, transparency, and accountability standards. I call on you to join me in this commitment to our community, as your support is integral to the success of this campaign!

“As someone who has worked with Scott Tingle in Law Enforcement for several years, I can tell you he puts the job, his co-workers, and most importantly, the community he serves before himself. Scott is one of the most gracious yet humble men I have met. The Strafford County Sheriff’s Office has just endured a terrible term being led by someone with very questionable integrity. Scott exemplifies integrity. The Strafford County Sheriff’s Office needs accountability more than ever, and Scott Tingle is the person for the job.”
Officer Scott Flanagan ~ Ogunquit Police Department

“Honesty, integrity, and a motivation to lead—that’s Scott Tingle. Strafford County deserves the best. It’s what we want, and it’s what we have in Scott Tingle.”
